Process: I began with unbleached white at the top and then added pigment dust to the wet surface. Then I scraped the surface side to side lightly mixing the two colors. This created an effect almost like striations in sedimentary rock that once had water flowing –– carving at the rock leaving it permanently scarred –– or to something beautifully sculpted.

I remember struggling with this piece. I’m still not sure it’s completed. I was trying to create a gradation from light to dark with the darkest area having a built up texture.
